Australians love sport and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is no exception!
The Australian Fighting Championship (AFC) hosted huge matches featuring stars like current UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
However they haven’t held events since December 2019, so who has filled the void left by one of the country’s biggest MMA organisations.
1. Eternal MMA
Eternal MMA is the country’s premier MMA Australia promotion and their main events are broadcast on UFC Fight Pass.
Their motto is promoting no gimmick fight events run by professional fighters for fighters.
MMA promotions began through Eternal with one show in 2012. They now hold ten martial arts matches every year, making them among the biggest MMA organisations in Australia and New Zealand.
Eternal events have featured many exciting fighters including former Eternal Strawweight champion Casey O’Neill, who scored her first UFC win in a February 2021.
2. XFC
In 2003, Justin Lawrence started XFC in Queensland. XFC events are mostly held at the Mansfield Tavern, a unique and intimate setting for MMA promotions.
Matthew Walton and Daniel Woolard took over in 2016, offering safe, fair matches for the most talented men and women professional fighters in Australia and New Zealand.
XFC alumni include Former UFC Middleweight Champion and current number one ranked contender Robert Whittaker who made his professional debut for XFC. UFC veteran Brian Ebersole is the official XFC Match Maker.
Ticket options include general admission or super cage side stools. VIP tables include a 4-hour drinks package and a 3-course meal!
3. Hex Fighting Series
The Hex Fighting Series offers MMA promotions out of the Melbourne Pavillion at Flemington Raceway, and they’re one of the biggest MMA organisations in the country.
Hex Fight Series has 11 amateur fight events under its belt and an impressive 20 matches between professional fighters, with 12 fighters transitioning directly into the UFC!
Hex Fight Series currently features Ben ‘The Combat Wombat’ Sosoli, a former UFC heavyweight.

4. Beast Fighting Championship
The BEAST championship run by BEAST Gym a MMA / Sports & Recreation Venue in Gladstone, Queensland.
They showcase MMA promotions and other fight events, including Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai and Grappling Events for Professional and Amateur Fighters.
They offer cool videos and past and future event info at BEAST.
5. Urban Fight Night
The sleek and stylish website and well produced video content for Urban Fight Night reflects their excellence in MMA promotions.
Based in Sydney, UFN is ideally situated to be one of the biggest MMA organisations in the country. They host pro and amateur fight events, and it’s easy to believe them when they say it’s the ultimate experience.
